Recruiting
Mitchell McNutt actively recruits law students for associate positions and experienced attorneys, as well as other positions within the firm, including paralegals and secretaries, that exhibit the same integrity, intelligence, and commitment to excellence that has come to define our firm.
The firm often hires full-time associates from our summer clerkship program, which offers law students a realistic view of the practice of law, including hands-on experience with real legal matters and clients. Often that involves legal research for and drafting of motions and briefs; meeting with clients; helping prepare attorneys for depositions, hearings and trial; and on the transactional side, assisting with drafting real documents for use by our clients. We also strive to provide meaningful work in a particular area of law that a summer clerk might like to explore. What sets our program apart is the client interactions, mentorship, and professional development opportunities we offer. Additionally, we strive to host a handful of social gatherings outside the office, to allow clerks to get to know us and build relationships beyond office walls.
Mitchell McNutt focuses on-site recruiting efforts within the state at the University of Mississippi School of Law. If you are a 1L or 2L law student at Ole Miss who has an interest in the firm, we invite you to apply for an on-campus interview. Applications from interested students at other law schools are also welcomed; inquiries may be directed to our recruiting committee chairs.
While Mitchell McNutt has hired many individuals through the summer clerkship program, the firm is also open to exploring opportunities with experienced attorneys whose expertise is compatible with the expanded practice areas of the firm. Over the years there have been numerous quality additions to the firm through lateral hires which have benefited the firm and its clients. Additionally, Mitchell McNutt is always looking for legal secretaries and paralegals to complement our legal professionals.
